Nous sommes excités de vous présenter notre plus récente collaboration, cette fois-ci avec la marque montréalaise Manheight Co. La marque a une passion pour la création de morceaux bien conçus et durables, et fait un effort de produire ses collections à Montréal. La collection Manheight Co. x OTH s'inspire fortement de Montréal, que ça soit la casquette "MTL", ou le crewneck et hoodie "Made in Montreal", qui sont tout les deux produits dans notre merveilleuse ville. La collection inclue aussi un "lab coat" bleu marin, fait à Montréal, qui porte l'inscription "Ville-Marie Coeurs Blasés" sur le dos.

La collection Manheight Co. x OTH sera disponible en quantité très limitée dès 11h demain, exclusivement à la boutique. Elle sera disponible en ligne à partir de 11h lundi matin.

We're excited to announce our latest collaboration, an endeavour with Montreal-based brand Manheight Co. The brand strives to create well-made and durable goods and has made an effort to produce its goods in Montreal. The Manheight Co. x OTH collection features a number of nods to Montreal, whether it be the felt "MTL" hat, or the the "Made in Montreal" crewneck and hoodie, which are wholly produced in our fine city. The collection also features a Montreal-made navy blue lab coat, emblazoned with "Ville-Marie Coeurs Blasés" on the back.

The Manheight Co. x OTH capsule drops at the shop in very limited quantities at 11am tomorrow morning, and online as of 11am Monday.

STREET JUSTICE par PIERRICK DUFRENOY

Nous sommes contents de vous annoncer notre prochaine exposition à la Galerie 1181, situé au 1181 Ste Catherine O. On accueillera STREET JUSTICE, une exposition par Pierrick Dufrenoy, le jeudi 10 septembre de 18h à 22h.

Pierrick commence le graffiti à l'âge de treize ans, avec son BMX et son marker, à taguer les murs de la ville : les bêtises de jeunesse ! Le temps passe, les rencontres se font et il s'oriente vers le graffiti pur et dur. Diplômé d'école d'Art en Graphisme Et Illustration, il façonne son style au gré des inspirations. Les années 80 à 2000 influencent largement ses travaux : des productions très simples, épurées, avec de gros contours.

En 2009, le graffiti ne lui suffit plus, il forme une équipe avec ses amis les plus fidèles et déterminés : l'aventure « vandal » sur métros, trains, et tunnels peut commencer. De l'adrénaline et un flirt avec l'illégalité pour un message fort et provocant.

En parallèle, il commence à travailler dans le graphisme, créant pour des artistes ou des marques de vêtements, oeuvrant largement sur des affiches de concerts. Cela lui permet de parfaire son style, insufflant la force artistique et la pensée du graffiti dans ses illustrations.

Depuis deux ans, Pierrick met tout en œuvre pour affirmer l'approche novatrice et très personnelle de ses illustrations, utilisant notamment des scènes d'emeutes pour épouser l'angle provocateur du graffiti et retrouver les sensations que cet Art marginal et incompris lui procure. Des mésaventures rencontrées dans le graffiti « vandal » est née un projet qui lui tient particulièrement à coeur et concentre l'essentiel de ses efforts. 

La construction de ses illustrations offre une lecture saisissante : en surface, on y observe un mariage de formes et de couleurs ; mais lorsque l'on y regarde de loin, une scène apparaît. « Belle de loin et loin d'être belle » semble être la phrase clé du projet. En somme : ce qui pourrait passer pour une réalisation simple et provocante, se révèle être le canal d'un message plus complexe, parfois politique, à l'image de ce que communique le graffiti. 

STREET JUSTICE sera en exposition au 1181 Ste-Catherine O. le jeudi 10 septembre, de 18h à 22h. Les breuvages seront offertes par Broken Seven, et Louie P et The Holy seront sur place pour s'occuper de la musique au cours de la soirée. RSVP sur la page Facebook!

We're excited to announce our next exhibition at Gallery 1181, located at 1181 Ste Catherine O. We'll be welcoming STREET JUSTICE, an exhibition by Pierrick Dufrenoy, on Thursday, September 10th, from 6-10pm. 

Armed with his BMX and his marker, Pierrick first started experimenting with graffiti at the age of 13, making his way around Paris and leaving tags behind him. As time went on, he started becoming more and more involved in the Parisian graffiti scene. With an Art degree in Graphic Design and Illustration, his style varies depending his inspiration at a given moment. That being said, his work is greatly influenced by the 1980s, 90s and 2002, with simple, clean designs that feature prominent contours.

In 2009, hungry for more, Pierrick and his closest and most determined friends formed a crew intent on leaving their mark on Parisian metro cars, trains and tunnels. Filled with adrenaline and flirting with the law, the crew's work is emotional, provocative and bold.

At the same time, Pierrick started to try his hand at graphic design, creating pieces for artists, clothing brands, and, particularly, concerts and bands. This allowed Pierrick to perfect his style and find a way to ingrain the artistry and philosophy of graffiti into his work.

For the last two years, Pierrick has been hard at work creating novel and highly personal pieces, notably calling on riot scenes to create a provocative angle, while examining the emotions that graffiti, an often-marginalized and misunderstood art form, has created. This highly personal project, which has received a great deal of care and effort, was born from his experiences and adventures with his Parisian "vandal" graffiti crew.

His work offers viewers a captivating experience. What looks like a mix of shapes and colours from close morphs into a distinct scene when observed from far. "Beautiful from far, but far from beautiful" seems to be the most apt way of describing this project. All in all, what could pass as something simple and provocative is actually much more complex and political, harkening back to graffiti's very identity.

STREET JUSTICE will be on display at 1181 Ste-Catherine O. on Thursday, September 10th, from 6-10pm. Beverages will be provided courtesy of Broken Seven, and Louie P and The Holy will hold down the music throughout the evening. RSVP on the Facebook page!

For the sixth edition of our Chez Nous Mix Session series, we turned to M.BOOTYSPOON. You can check out a short Q&A with him below before hitting the play button at the bottom of the page. You'll be treated to a nice mix that you can listen to as we ride out summer together!

OTH: When did you first get into DJing and making music, and why?

M.B: I was exposed to underground electronic music at a very young age and that passion never really died down. I guess I gained the proper interest for DJing from my older brother when I was about fifteen. He was starting out playing minimal & techno records after he had gone out and seen most of Montreal's underground nightlife scene for himself. We had a pair of Technics in our basement, but I couldn't scratch so I immediately (and regrettably) dropped trying to DJ for about four years. Around this time I had also taken stabs at sound design and tried making my own music, but it was mainly at a hobbyist stage. It was around early 2009 when I really started burning CDs taking them to bars and clubs to play.

Within the last couple of months I’ve taken production a bit more seriously and I’m happy to announce that you’ll see a release from me in the fall under a not-so-obvious alias. Very unintentional ten-year plan I guess hahahah

OTH: Do you have any residencies in Montreal? Radio shows? etc...

M.B: Not at the moment. I can pretty much be found playing anywhere in the city really. I’ve had an on-going project which is New Sounds of Montreal that started with Sinjin Hawke, LOL Boys’ Heartbeat(s) and Rinse France’s Azamat B. which is where I cut my teeth at DJing a varied selection of music and VJing at parties. I also just started up 00:AM with three friends of mine which is a party focused on House & Techno talents who push the envelope of those genres. Brendan Neal aka Motions is the other resident DJ of that night.

OTH: Any particular events that have stuck with you in Montreal?

M.B: I still really like Night Trackin' which was Jacques Greene and Seb Diamond's nights back in 2009 till about 2012. The early parties they had put on had a huge impact on me because it was about a year after I had really started going out and it definitely stuck with me during that formative period. That was also around the time that I saw Tiga play at Stereo for the first time which changed how I viewed nightlife, partying etc. Also when the Torn Curtain had it's doors open to after hours party people, that was really something else- definitely a pivotal point in Montreal's late night scene for the decade. After parties in this city have, in absolutely no way, come close to this vibe since.

OTH: How do you describe your genre and your vibe?

M.B:I've definitely gravitated to a Chicago / Ron Hardy style of DJing. I'm not a genre purist. If I can break down rhythmic or tonal elements between musics that on the surface seem completely different just because they’re from a different scene, I don't see why they shouldn't be played together. I'm all for having a cohesive, disciplined set every once in a while but I also don't enjoy sounding and playing like most people these days do. I’ve found that it’s this sort of approach that sets the mood and pace of my DJing apart from others.

OTH: How would you describe this mix?

M.B: I noticed there were already a lot of DJ mixes aimed towards the dancefloor for Chez Nous series, so I figured I'd present something a little different. I came at this mix with little constraints other than the period in which it was being released, the back to school period of the year; end-of-summer vibes were channeled into it. It's still going to be hot out, you're still going to be in summer mode for another month, but the comedown is near and I wanted to soothe people into that. The kinda mix you can listen to by the pool, while you're shopping or before going on a night out in the city. Personally this summer had been an upward rollercoaster going full speed whilst money flew out my pockets, and I don’t quite think I was alone on that ride. Not trying to imagine slamming the breaks on that.

VANS x OTH AΩ SLIP-ON LX

Disponible exclusivement chez OTH le 3 septembre 2015. We're proud to introduce the Vans X OTH AΩ Slip-On LX, a shoe that merges OFF THE HOOK's 15 year history with the Greek roots of its founders. Available exclusively at OFF THE HOOK on Septembre 3rd, 2015.

Nous sommes fiers de vous présenter la Vans x OTH AΩ Slip-On LX, qui célèbre le quinzième anniversaire d’OTH et unie ses racines grecques et québécoises.

Les lettres AΩ tiennent une place spéciale parmi la culture et la mythologie grecque et symbolisent que chaque histoire a un début et une fin. Avec OTH qui célèbre ses 15 ans, le projet AΩ touche sur les racines de la boutique et son histoire pendant la dernière décennie et demie. Ainsi, la AΩ Slip-On LX s’inspire des racines grecques des fondateurs d’OTH et de l’histoire d’OTH dans le streetwear montréalais. La lettre « A » est déclinée en relief sur le soulier droit, tandis que la lettre « Ω » se trouve en relief sur le soulier gauche. Le colori choisi uni lui aussi l’héritage grecque et québécois. Déclinée en suède gris avec de légères rayures bleues et blanches, le gris symbolise une fondation solide vu qu’il peut être porté saison après saison, tandis que les rayures bleues et blanches représentent les drapeaux du Québec et de la Grèce.

Pour le projet AΩ, nous avons fait équipe avec le designer québécois Isaac Larose, de Larose Paris, pour amener une nouvelle énergie et appliquer sa vision unique à une silhouette intemporelle. Nous avons aussi fait recours au photographe Vassilis Karidis, du magazine Dapper Dan, de photographier un lookbook qui communique l’esprit de la jeunesse d’Athènes d’aujourd’hui. Le lookbook a été stylé par Nicholas Georgiou, également de Dapper Dan.

La Vans x OTH AΩ Slip-On LX ($90 + tax) sera disponible en quantité limitée dès 10h en boutique et à partir de 12h en ligne, le jeudi 3 septembre, avec livraison offerte à travers le monde.

On fêtera aussi le lancement de la AΩ Slip-On LX jeudi soir, dès 19h, dans l'espace Vans OTH. Les places seront limitées, donc on vous prie de RSVP sur la page Facebook et d'arriver à l'heure. Vous serez accueillis par un DJ, et de la nourriture inspirée par la thématique de la collection!

We are proud to introduce the Vans x OTH AΩ Slip-On LX, celebrating the shop’s 15 year anniversary and uniting OTH's joint Greek and Quebecois heritage.

The letters AΩ have great significance in Greek culture, and symbolize that every story has a beginning and an end. With OTH celebrating its 15 year anniversary, the AΩ Project serves as a way to examine the shop’s roots and its history over the last decade and a half. Thus, the AΩ Slip-On LX touches on both the Greek roots of OTH’s founders, and its history within Montreal’s streetwear scene. The letter A is lightly embossed on the top of the right shoe, while the left shoe carries an embossed Ω. Further tying together the joint heritage in Greece and Quebec is the colour-scheme, which features grey suede and blue stripes, with grey symbolizing a solid foundation as it’s a classic colour that can be worn season after season and blue stripes representing both Greece and Quebec.

As part of the AΩ Project, we teamed up with Quebec designer Isaac Larose, of Larose Paris, to bring a new and unique vision to a classic silhouette. We also called upon photographer Vassilis Karidis, of Dapper Dan, to shoot a lookbook that embodies the spirit of today’s youth in Athens.  The shoot was styled by Nicholas Georgiou, also of Dapper Dan.

The Vans x OTH AΩ Slip-On LX ($90 +tax) will be available in limited quantity on Thursday, September 3rd at 10AM in store and 12PM on the online store, with shipping offered worldwide.

We'll also be celebrating the launch of the AΩ Slip-On LX on Thursday night, as of 7pm, in the Vans OTH space. You'll be treated to a live DJ and catering inspired by the shoe's theme! Space is limited, so we ask you to RSVP on the Facebook page.

The adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 is back in black. The second design born from the ongoing collaboration between adidas and Kanye West gets a second colourway, with the Pirate Black version set to drop exclusively at the shop on Saturday, August 22.

Pairs will be awarded via a raffle system. Entry to the raffle will take place on Wednesday, August 19, from 11am to 7pm, exclusively at the shop. Entries are limited to one per person and photo ID is required to be eligible to win. All winners will be contacted on Thursday, August 20 about how and when they can buy their pair. As part of its quest to continually push its design forward, both from a fashion and tech standpoint, PUMA has teamed up with Los Angeles-based brand Stampd to create a new take on the popular Trinomic model.

The Trinomic Sock features design cues taken from both the R698 and Disc Blaze, to create an entirely new silhouette that offers support, comfort and a distinctive look. Available in both black and grey, the PUMA x Stampd Trinomic Sock is constructed from premium suede.

Chez Nous Mix Session #05 - Forrest

On vous présente la cinquième édition de notre série Chez Nous Mix Sessions, créée par le DJ montréalais Forrest. Que vous soyez à un barbecue, ou en train de vous préparez pour une soirée sur les terrasses de notre merveilleuse ville, le mix de Forrest a exactement ce qu'il vous faut.

Impliqué dans la musique depuis son enfance, Forrest a eu ses débuts en tant que frontman de divers groupes avant de faire la transition à la musique électronique. Depuis, il utilise un mélange unique pour se différencier des autres actes sur la scène, en combinant son historique de frontman avec sa passion pour le techno. Au global il décrit son style comme étant entre le house et le techno, mais c'est son utilisation de sa voix qui créé un style unique.

C'est ce style qui lui a permis de prendre une résidence mensuelle chez Datcha, et qui lui a offert la chance de performer chez Piknic Électronik et Igloofest. "C'est les meilleurs gigs pour moi," explique-t-il, "j'ai la chance de performer devant des grosses foules montréalaises qui adorent la musique techno." Avec cette énergie montréalaise en tête, Forrest travaille pour bâtir quelque chose de stable sur la scène, pour pouvoirs toujours jouer devant des foules énergétiques.

Pour ce qui est de ce mix, Forrest a inclu plusieurs de ses nouvelles chansons, qui sont sorties sur des labels tels que 2020Vision, Get Physical, et Moon Harbour. "C'est bon pour les clubs, mais tu peux vraiment écouter le mix partout et à chaque occasion." For the fifth edition of our Chez Nous Mix Session series, we've tapped Montreal DJ/producer Forrest to create a mix that's perfect for any occasion as we move along towards the end of summer. So whether you're hanging out at a barbecue, or getting ready to hit our city's wonderful terrasses, Forrest's Mix Session has you covered.

Entrenched in music since he was a kid, Forrest started off playing in bands before he made the transition to electronic music. Since then, he's brought a unique blend to the table - one that blends his background as a frontman with his love for techno. While on the whole he describes his genre as something falling between house and techno, the vocal aspect is what sets him apart. It's hard to find other DJs who sing on their original tracks, while also performing them live during sets. 

This trademark sound has allowed him to hold down a monthly gig at Datcha, as well as slots at Piknic Électronik and Igloofest. "Those are the best for me," he explains, "I get to perform in front of big Montréal crowds that are fully receptive to electronic music." With that contagious energy in mind, Forrest is trying to build something more permanent within the Montreal electronic scene, allowing him to consistently play in front of energetic, techno-loving crowds.

As for this mix, Forrest has included a number of his latest releases, out on labels such as 2020Vision, Get Physical, and Moon Harbour. Ringleaders c/o PUMA by Hassan Badran

The Ringleaders ont fait équipe avec le photographe Hassan Badran pour mettre en vedette leurs nouveaux maillots, créés en collaboration avec PUMA. Inspirés des nombreux matchs sans partisans, The Ringleaders voulait communiquer l'atmosphère authentique du football street. Peu importe où l'équipe se trouve, que ça soit sans partisans ou dans la pluie, ils ne font que jouer.

Le maillot exclusif au joueurs est décliné en blanc avec des numéros et logos RFC blancs, ainsi qu'un logo PUMA noir. Les maillots disponibles au public se voient déclinés eux aussi en blanc, mais avec des accents dans les couleurs classiques du RFC. Les maillots sont vendus avec des shorts pour créer un kit complet. Des maillots de gardien très limités seront aussi disponible pour quelques clients.

Les nouveaux maillots Ringleaders seront disponibles exclusivement à la boutique dès 11h mardi, le 21 juillet, et seront disponibles en ligne dès 13h.

The Ringleaders have teamed up with photographer Hassan Badran to showcase their latest uniforms, courtesy of PUMA. Inspired by countless games where nobody was watching, The Ringleaders wanted to convey the atmosphere behind authentic street football. It doesn't matter where the team is. It doesn't matter if anybody is watching. It doesn't matter what the weather is. They just play. 

The players' exclusive white jerseys feature tonal numbers and lettering, as well as a tonal RFC logo, and a black PUMA logo. The jerseys available to the public for purchase feature black lettered RFC and traditional RFC and PUMA logos. The jerseys are sold with matching shorts to create an entire kit. Highly-limited goalkeeper jerseys are also available for a few very lucky customers.

The kits will be available exclusively at the shop as of 11am EST Tuesday, July 21st and as of 1pm EST online.

Herschel Supply a dévoilé la collection Automne 15 de leur populaire gamme "Studio", avec une sélection de sacs ayant une esthétique moderne et urbain. Nous avons fait équipe avec la marque basée à Vancouver pour créer un petit lookbook mettant en vedette quelques modèles disponibles à la boutique.

Herschel Supply has unveiled the Fall 15 iteration of their popular Studio Collection, featuring a range of bags sporting a refined urban aesthetic and offered in water-resistant materials. We teamed up with the Vancouver-based brand to shoot a small lookbook, showcasing some of the styles available at the shop.

Classics, like the Heritage and Settlement backpacks, have been reimagined in black, white, and woodland camo and rendered in a protective polycoat fabric for the first time, making sure your gear is always safe and dry. Premium tarpaulin is also used on a range of silhouettes in black and utilitarian army green to round out the Studio Collection. Each bag is finished with carefully crafted and considered details, including waterproof zippers, knotted vegetable tanned leather pulls, and woven or screen printed Herschel Supply logos.
