CHEZ NOUS MIX SESSION #01 OTH HATCHMATIK

La musique a toujours été une partie intégrale de l'identité OTH; nous sommes donc très excités de vous présenter notre plus récent projet, la série "Chez Nous Mix Sessions". Pour la série, nous avons demandé à plusieurs DJs montréalais de créer des mixes qui représentaient leur son personnel.

C'est Hatchmatik qui a eu l'honneur de la première session sur les disques d'acier, créant un mix house d'un peu plus d'une heure qui est parfait pour vos matinées, les week-ends, et bien sur, la boutique! Écoutez-le ci-dessous et restez à l'affût des prochaines éditions "Chez Nous Mix Sessions"!

Music has always been a very important part of OTH's DNA; as such, we are very excited to unveil our latest project, the "Chez Nous Mix Sessions". We have invited a number of taste-making Montreal DJs to get behind the turntables and showcase their personal taste in music.

We turned to Hatchmatik for Mix Session #01 and he certainly did not disappoint, laying down an hour-long house mix that's perfect to listen to on a morning commute, a lazy weekend, or at the shop. Drive Me Crazy - Kaytranada ft. Vic Mensa

Kaytranada vient de dévoiler sa première chanson avec XL Recordings avec l'aide du rapper chicagoan Vic Mensa. Avec un premier album à venir sous XL, la chanson nous donne une idée de ce que le producteur montréalais est en train de créer en studio. Drive Me Crazy est aussi disponible sur iTunes et sur Spotify. Gardez un oeil sur Kaytra dans les prochains mois!

Kaytranada just dropped his first song with XL Recordings, featuring Chicago rapper Vic Mensa and Kaytra's signature bouncing basslines. The single gives us a taste of what to expect from the Montrealer's first full-length album, which is in the works with XL. Drive Me Crazy is also available on iTunes and Spotify. Chez Nous OTH Pierre Kwenders

La semaine dernière nous avons dévoilé le projet "Chez Nous Mix Sessions". Aujourd'hui, nous sommes heureux d'annoncer un autre projet centré sur la musique, la série Chez Nous, qui vous donnera la chance de voir de nombreux musiciens locaux et internationaux à la boutique.

Le soir, la boutique sera transformée en petit espace intime, où se tiendront de nombreux concerts pendant l'année. Au cours des 15 dernières années, nous avons eu la chance de voir de nombreux musiciens montréalais grandir sur la scène locale et internationale, et nous sommes excités de vous présenter quelques uns de nos artistes préférés. 

La première édition de la série Chez Nous se tiendra ce mercredi, le 28 janvier, à 19h, lorsque nous accueillerons le talentueux Pierre Kwenders pour une soirée remplie de sa musique unique et progressive qui unie la rumba congolaise et l'afro-electro. Reconnu pour son premier album, Le Dernier Empereur Bantou, Pierre Kwenders est un showman de premier plan qui vous donnera surement l'envie de danser au cours de la soirée. Il débutera aussi une tournée après sa soirée chez OTH, avec un nombre de spectacles à travers le Canada.

Soyez certains d'être à la boutique ce mercredi pour le lancement de la série "Chez Nous" avec Pierre Kwenders, et restez à l'affût des spectacles à venir tout au long de 2015. Les place sont limitées et les gens seront admis premiers arrivés, et devront avoir RSVP à l'évènement Facebook.

Last week, we unveiled the new "Chez Nous Mix Sessions". Today, we're happy to announce the launch of another musical project, the Chez Nous series, which will give you a chance to see some great local and international acts at the shop.

The space will be transformed into a small, intimate concert venue that will be used to showcase talented musicians over the course of an evening. We have had the chance to see a number of artists grow in the music industry over the last 15 years and we're excited to see that trend continue.

The first edition of the Chez Nous series will take place this Wednesday, January 28th, at 7pm, as we welcome Pierre Kwenders to the shop for an evening filled with his unique and progressive music that mixes Congolese rumba and Afro-electro beats. Fresh off his debut full length album, Le Dernier Empereur Bantou, Pierre Kwenders is an electric performer whose music you can't help but dance to. He will be kicking off his tour after his appearance at OTH, with a number of dates in Canada. 

Be sure to be at the shop on Wednesday evening for the inaugural edition of the Chez Nous series and keep your eyes open for upcoming acts throughout 2015. Spaces are extremely limited and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to people who have RSVP'd to the event on Facebook.

Soulection's Best of 2014

Nous sommes des fans de Soulection et c'est fort probable qu'on écoute un mix de l'hebdomadaire californien pendant une journée typique à la boutique. Jetez un coup d'œil au 199e épisode ci-dessous, qui a été dédié aux meilleures chansons de 2014 pour célébrer le Nouvel An. 

We're big fans of Soulection, on most days we'll be bumping one of their mixes or a track from one of the producers behind the successful California-based show. To ring in 2015, Selection dedicated it's 199th show to the best tracks of 2014 and we've been listening to it quite a bit. Give it a listen below!

Denzel Curry - Zone 3

Denzel Curry vient de lancer son plus récent vidéo, pour la chanson "Zone 3", qui figure sur son premier album Nostalgic 64. Le court-métrage a été réalisé par notre bon ami Jeremy Wirth et a été filmé dans le quartier natal de Denzel, Carol City (d'où vient le nom "Zone 3"). Jetez-y un coup d'oeil!

Denzel Curry just dropped the music video for his song "Zone 3", from his debut album Nostalgic 64. The video was directed by our good friend Jeremy Wirth and features Denzel in his hometown of Carol City, rapping about what growing up in "Zone 3" was like. Check it out below!

Monday mornings, sunny side up

It was a cold one out here in Montreal, so we are sharing this with you to spice up your life and get your blood flowing. Today we have for you the phenomenal track "C.O.D (I'll deliver)" and it comes from the legendary band MTUME. They had a tremendous career that spanned over the 70's and 80's and they were responsible for the sample used in Biggie's "Juicy" as well. I could listen to this track at any point during the week, but listening to it on a Monday morning reminds me of the highlights of my weekend, hope you feel the same. If you have the time, check out some of their other tracks as well.

Kaytranada, more than a blessing

Kaytra has been murdering the scene all over the globe for a minute now and recently made the cover of the world's biggest dance music and club culture magazine, Mixmag. HUGE! He also sold out the SAT in Montreal not too far back. It just seems like everything he touches turns to gold, and we don't want it to stop anytime soon. Here is a live set recorded by Mixmag from Kaytra's performance in London last week. A great set for your weekend activities indeed.
